I hope it's just the water pump so it's still covered under the original power train warranty otherwise I need to get into filing a claim under my extended warranty that I bought (6 years / 72,000 miles). If the coolant red light is flashing, then that means that a sensor is not responding to the computer system at that time. I'll keep everyone updated on what the outcome is. ![]() The annoying thing is I already had my 40k scheduled maintenance for tomorrow and this problem couldn't wait. The car is there now and I'm going to get it in the morning to sort everything out. After work, I started driving home (two miles into it) when the light came on again so I pulled into the garage for the gym where I was in the morning. I kept it on idle to let the engine warm up and nothing happened, so i hoped I was fine. The engine was a little smoky and smelled like coolant.Īt lunch I asked my friend to drive me to get some coolant and I filled it up with the recommended G-12 from the dealership. I decided to drive all the way to work and parked in the lot and opened the hood. Only 33K miles on the tiguan The engine never ran hot. I'm having it towed to the local VW dealership tomorrow morning but just wanted to see what everyone's opinion on the issue might be. I pulled the oil dip stick and it looks normal, no milky color. There was no oil present in the coolant leak. 7 hours later and the coolant is still full so it only happens when I'm driving. I filled it back up and just pulled the car in the garage. When I look up it's coming out on the passenger side at the back under the firewall. I can't see the leak looking from the top of the engine. I was 5 mins away and by the time I got home it was completely empty again. ![]() There was a strong coolant smell so I looked under the car and it was pouring out. I got off the next exit and pulled into a Wal-Mart and notice I had no coolant when I lifted the hood. So I'm about 10 mins from home today when the coolant low/over heating dash light (the key light) came on and started flashing. ![]()
